Write for us

Local Travel Journal welcomes thoughtful pitches about nearby journeys, walking, landscapes and the details that help readers see familiar places anew. Send your proposal through the Contact page rather than submitting a full draft.

What we welcome

Pitch clear, original ideas that offer a reader something to notice, compare, understand or plan. We are interested in evergreen subjects that do not rely on a breaking event, and in pieces that work for readers across different places.

What makes a strong pitch

Tell us the central idea, who it is for, what the reader will take away and why the subject suits Local Travel Journal. Include a short outline and any relevant experience or sources you would draw on; do not claim access or expertise you do not have.

Sending a proposal

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial option. Include your proposed title or subject in the message, along with a brief outline. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; please wait for a response before sending a full article.
